Red Bay awaits

Step ashore in Red Bay – a UNESCO World Heritage Site steeped in Basque whaling history. Begin your day exploring the village and nearby Saddle Island, where 16th-century tryworks and cooperages still mark the landscape. Visit the interpretation centre to discover artifacts from Europe’s early industrial whaling era, then sample Labrador’s distinctive flavours, from wild game to foraged berries.

In the afternoon, choose a scenic coastal hike or climb the 689 steps of Tracey Hill. At the summit, take in sweeping views over Red Bay and the Strait of Belle Isle, where whales, icebergs, and seabirds complete the picture.
