See the beauty of Sitka Sound from the seat of a kayak, and paddle among an array of marine life.

  • Paddle in the Sitka Sound surrounded by views of rugged coastline, small islands, and estuaries.

  • Get the chance to spot eagles along with a variety of marine life, from sea otters to porpoises.

  • Kayak with Mount Edgecumbe, Sitka’s incredible stratovolcano, as a backdrop if weather permits.


Partnered paddling 

After getting fitted with kayaking gear and rainwear and learning to row your two-person kayak, you and your paddling partner will be launched into the Sitka Sound. Your guides will choose the best route based on weather and sea conditions. Wherever you go, you’ll get gorgeous coastal views. On a clear day, you’ll even see the breathtaking Mount Edgecumbe, Sitka’s majestic stratovolcano. 

Practical information

  • Included: Guide, kayak, and safety gear, along with raingear if needed. 

  • Remarks/requirements: Please wear weather-appropriate, layered clothing and comfortable walking shoes. Sunscreen, hat and sunglasses are recommended. Restrooms are available at Sitka Sound Cruise Terminal before and after tour. This excursion is not suitable for anyone under 6 years of age, under 50lbs or over 275lbs in weight, or over 6’6” in height. 

  • Language: English 

  • Walking information: Minimal walking required. Participants must be able to sit in a sea kayak and paddle at a leisurely pace for up to 2 hours. 

  • Wheelchair accessible: No
