Discover Chiloé’s distinctive sites, from colourful palafitos to its UNESCO-listed wooden churches.
  • See Castro’s iconic palafitos and browse locally made crafts.

  • Explore Chonchi’s dramatic tiered geography and historic sites

  • Visit two UNESCO-listed Churches of Chiloé blending European and indigenous architecture and traditions.

The first stop is Gamboa Bridge, for views across Castro’s waterfront and of its colourful palafitos, which are traditional homes built on stilts. In Chonchi, known as the ‘three-storey town’ for its steep hillside split into three levels, there’s time to explore the Museum of Chonchina Traditions and visit one of the 16 wooden churches that make up Chiloé’s UNESCO World Heritage property. Back in Castro, we’ll visit another of these churches – San Francisco – and browse locally made crafts at the artisan market.
