The John Hunter Memorial Trail leads you through quiet spruce forest to sweeping views of Valdez, Port Valdez, the Chugach Mountains, and the Trans Alaska Pipeline. It’s a steady, rewarding climb, and your guide shares stories of outdoorsman John Hunter and the landscapes he loved. Early in the season, the hike may be done in snowshoes. It typically takes 2-2.5 hours in total.
