Kayaking in Klawock 

Since 1977, Klawock River Hatchery has supported Southeast Alaska’s salmon, harvesting salmon eggs and releasing millions of fry each year. Kayak through Klawock Lake, paddling between forested islands as you learn about these nutrient-rich waters and their cultural significance. Along the shoreline, watch for herons, Sitka blacktail deer, and the occasional black bear foraging at the water’s edge.

Practical information

  • Walking or Activity information: Includes approx. 85 yds of walking over gravel, grass, sand and concrete, plus 1.5 hours paddling at a moderate pace. Not suitable if you have limited mobility. 

  • Wheelchair accessible: No
