New name, same spirit. Sailing across global horizons.
A new chapter in exploration
Beyond Norway
For 130 years, we’ve chased horizons. It all began in Norway with a daring voyage from Hammerfest to Svalbard during the golden age of exploration. The fjords were wild, the waters uncharted, and that journey set the course for everything we do today.
Since those early days, we’ve ventured even farther. Beyond Norway’s jagged coastline, through icy polar peninsulas and sun-drenched archipelagos. We seek awe-inspiring places that remind us just how extraordinary the planet truly is.
Why HX?
Our name captures our essence. It is both a tribute and a promise.
HX is the name of the historic route that calls at 34 ports along Norway’s coast. That journey embodies the curiosity, courage, and adventurous spirit that have always guided us. Over time, those same qualities have carried us far beyond our original routes, across the globe from Alaska to Antarctica, through the Northwest Passage, and even to the Galápagos Islands. Today, HX carries that ethos of discovery into every voyage.
Hurtigruten still sails the Norwegian coast. HX Expeditions charts new courses worldwide.
