Ride a horse through the wild, rolling countryside on Chiloé Island.
  • Ride centuries-old rural roads that connect Chiloé's farms, pastures, and coastline.

  • Learn to read a horse's body language before you even get in the saddle.

  • Hear stories of early life in Chiloé and the legacy of horses on the archipelago.

Horses first arrived on Chiloé with Spanish settlers in the late 1500s. Cut off from the mainland for over two centuries, the island's horses evolved into a distinct breed, the mampato: small, sturdy, and perfectly adapted to Chiloé's wet climate and rugged terrain. This experience begins at the corral, where you'll learn about horse behaviour and responsible interaction, before saddling up and following a guide along traditional rural roads, across open pastures, and towards the beach.
