Total Eclipse, Total Wilderness: Witnessing Nature's Greatest Show from East Greenland

Aboard MS Spitsbergen, our Captain, and Expedition Leader are broadcasting live to the BBC from the path of totality, where the moon will fully swallow the sun.

As people across the UK prepare for tonight's eclipse, our Captain and Expedition Leader spoke to the BBC from the path of totality — where the moon fully swallowed the sun.

Later today, all eyes will be on East Greenland.
Aboard MS Spitsbergen, on our Solar Eclipse expedition, guests and expedition experts are preparing to witness one of nature's rarest spectacles: a total solar eclipse. As the moon moves across the sun, daylight will briefly fade, temperatures may drop, and the Arctic wilderness will be transformed for a few extraordinary moments.
Experiencing a total eclipse in East Greenland is about more than the celestial event itself. It's about where it happens. Surrounded by towering fjords, drifting ice and some of the most remote landscapes on Earth, guests are positioned in one of the best places to witness this remarkable phenomenon.
As anticipation builds, HX's Captain and Expedition Leader on MS Spitsbergen have also shared insights with BBC viewers ahead of the eclipse, offering a glimpse into what it is like to experience such a rare event from the path of totality. If you missed the live broadcast, you can watch the recording below.

On board, scientists and expedition specialists are helping guests prepare for the event, sharing the science behind the eclipse and offering insight into the unique Arctic environment in which it will unfold.
Moments like these are at the heart of expedition travel. Whether witnessing a solar eclipse in Greenland, encountering extraordinary wildlife in the Galápagos, or exploring Antarctica's frozen landscapes, our voyages are designed to connect guests with the natural world in meaningful and unforgettable ways.
