Hurtigruten lives at the forefront of making the cruise industry more sustainable, leading with a ban on heavy fuels and the most innovative and realistic plans for shore power.
In April, we announced Sea Zero, our plans for the world’s first zero-emissions ship by 2030!
In May, we launched our first Environment, Social, and Governance or ESG report and asked our travel industry colleagues to join us in more transparency.
All expedition ships returned to service in June, following looser restrictions around COVID-19.
This year, nearly 10,000 passengers from the US and Canada and over 200,000 passengers worldwide sailed with us!
Hurtigruten Foundation continued to fund important projects around the world, like protecting endangered petrel in the Galápagos and investigating the migratory patterns of humpback whales off the Antarctic coast.
In August, we successfully launched two advertising campaigns in Minnesota and Colorado to grow brand awareness.
In November, we announced funding for nine more environmental projects including beach clean-ups in Svalbard, protecting shorebirds from ingesting plastic in Alaska’s Copper River Delta, and penguin population changes in Antarctica.
We are gearing up for our 130th Anniversary and can’t wait to share what’s coming next!
Thank you all! We couldn’t do it without you!
