Explore the waters around Heimary Island and discover caves, lava formations whilst looking out for wildlife
  • Enjoy a ride in a small expedition boat and see the highlights around Heimaey Island

  • Visit Stakkabót, where, between May and August, you’ll be able to see thousands of puffins flying and splashing into the sea

  • See the spectacular Kafhellir cave, where the sunlight appears to shine from underneath the island

A cave and wildlife adventure

Orcas and whales often swim in these waters – as well as dolphins and porpoises – so keep an eye out! We’ll visit sea caves and even explore a few on this excursion. You’ll see amazing lava shapes created by a volcanic eruption here in 1973. Then you’ll get close to a big puffin colony in Stakkabót and see thousands of these unusual birds.

Puffins can be seen from May- August. In April and September other seabirds can be seen but in fewer numbers.  Wildlife sightings are not guaranteed.
