Join us on a spectacular Snowcat tour to the top of Snæfellsjökull, the famous ice-capped volcano.
  • Snæfellsjökul is 4,744 ft high and was formed around 700,000 years ago

  • Take a bus tour to a mountain pass and ride a Snowcat to the top of the glacier

  • Stop several times on the way up, and take a stroll at the top before descending

  • See where Jules Verne got inspiration for his famous sci-fi novel ‘Journey to the Center of the Earth’

Journey to the volcano top

Starting with a bus tour from Grundarfördur, we’ll drive to the base of Snæfellsjökul volcano, from where a Snowcat will take you to the summit. Topped with a glacier, Snæfellsjökull is a spectacular location that perfectly fits Iceland’s nickname ‘The Land of Fire and Ice’, and also inspired part of Jules Verne’s famous novel, ‘Journey to the Center of the Earth’.
