HX Ocean Crossings take you between continents aboard our expedition cruise ships. Some days bring a port or a new coastline; others bring open ocean. The time is yours: take a seat on deck and watch for wildlife, join a talk with the Expedition Team, let the hours slip by with a massage in the wellness space, or settle into a quiet corner of the Explorer Lounge & Bar with a book and a handmade signature cocktail.
From Brazil to Cape Verde, Barbados to Ushuaia, join us on a passage across the Pacific or Atlantic Ocean.
Oceans, Routes, and Landfalls
HX Ocean Crossings follow coastlines, span hemispheres, and trace routes seafarers have taken for centuries.
The Atlantic Ocean
The Atlantic offers striking contrasts: cooler waters off Canada give way to subtropical Bermuda and the Caribbean, while other routes pass Brazil, Cape Verde, the Falklands, and Patagonia.
Pacific & Equatorial Waters
Our Pacific passages follow the Humboldt Current off Chile and Peru, one of the world’s most productive marine ecosystems, before reaching warmer waters and very different coastlines further north.
The Great Ocean Routes
On some Ocean Crossings, you travel far enough to watch a whole region change around you. Days at sea slow things down, giving you time to notice wildlife, weather, light, and landscape as the miles pass.
Cape Verde & the Eastern Atlantic
Cape Verde sits at a natural crossroads in the Atlantic, where routes between Europe, Africa, and the Americas have converged for centuries. Its volcanic islands make a striking landfall after days in open water.
Life On Board
Ocean Crossings take place aboard working expedition ships repositioning between different parts of the world. That’s part of the attraction: with more time at sea, there’s time to settle into the ship and really enjoy life on board.

Life at sea follows a simple but rewarding rhythm. Read on deck, linger over lunch, or keep your eyes on the horizon for passing wildlife. With fewer demands on your time, it’s easy to settle into the slower pace.

HX ships are always going somewhere, and on an Ocean Crossing, you get to see a little of what happens between expeditions. Get to know the crew, settle into the ship, and enjoy the easy camaraderie of travelling together.

These voyages have a different pace from our regular expeditions, but there’s still plenty to discover. Our Expedition Team lead talks, workshops, and informal gatherings, sharing their knowledge of the places, wildlife, history, and science connected to your route.

There’s plenty of time to enjoy the comforts of the ship. Depending on your ship, choose from a range of restaurants, enjoy a drink on deck, relax in the sauna, let the views inspire your work out in the gym, or feed your curiosity in the Science Centre.
Feed your curiosity
Curiosity is the key to an extraordinary expedition with HX. As you explore, you’ll find yourself drawn to find out more about the natural wonders you see and explore, and our Science & Education Program is there to enhance your knowledge and understanding. It’s an immersive learning experience, allowing you to find out more about landscapes, plants and wildlife across the land, supported by experts along the way. You’ll even have the opportunity to support real-time research and collect valuable data that will contribute to the conservation and understanding of our planet.
Active learning
The Science Centre is where guests and crew meet to create a deeper understanding of the areas you explore. You’ll use advanced microscopes to analyse sea water, fossils and biological samples collected earlier in the field, and there are lecture spaces, a small library and speciality areas for workshops in photography, biology and more.
Expert guidance
Our onboard Expedition Team is here to share their wealth of knowledge with you and help you make good use of the ship’s state-of-the-art Science Centre. The team also includes guest scientists conducting their own research while on board, and will only be too happy to share their findings with you.
Get involved
We‘re proud to support many vital Citizen Science projects on board our ships, including NASA cloud research, seaweed biodiversity, studies into Phytoplankton communities and many more. You're welcome to get involved in any projects that spark your interest, contributing valuable data to long-term research and playing your part in expanding our understanding of this extraordinary continent.
